# Approvals

> Review and approve a component's lineage version to establish a trusted baseline

Approvals let a reviewer sign off on a component's lineage version, establishing it as the trusted baseline for that component. Once a version is approved, Gable tracks the changes that have accumulated since approval — so reviewers can see at a glance whether a component's current lineage still reflects what was signed off.
